Robert Rowell, Golden State Warriors

Robert Rowell was named chief operating officer of the Golden State Warriors on May 4, 2001. Rowell was the club's vice president of business operations for three seasons prior to becoming COO. In his role as COO, Rowell represents the organization as a member of the NBA Board of Governors and serves as the National Basketball Association chief marketing officer.

During the 2001-02 season, Rowell was named one of Sports Business Journal's Forty Under 40 Award winners. The Forty Under 40 Awards annually celebrate the achievements of the top 40 executives in sports under the age of 40.

Rowell's "It's Great Time Out" branding campaign helped the Warriors earn the distinction of possessing the NBA's highest regular-season attendance increase mark (17 percent) during the 2000-01 season, with yet another increase during the 2001-02 season.

Prior to joining the Warriors, Rowell worked for the Cal Poly San Luis Obispo intercollegiate athletic department as business manager, assistant athletic director and associate athletic director over a six-year period.

Rowell, a native of Alton, IL, earned his bachelor's degree in broadcast journalism from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo and his master's degree in business administration in 1993.
