| We believe that the San Francisco Bay Area is the best
place for sports and athletes. World-class facilities, enthusiastic
audiences, a dynamic economy, beautiful scenery and our perfect
climate allow us to host preeminent sporting events and to
offer ideal training conditions for athletes in every sport.
The Bay Area Sports Organizing Committee (BASOC) serves as
the driving force behind many of the regions' efforts to host
the national and international sports community.
In November of 2002, our campaign to bid for the 2012 Summer
Olympic Games took a "Silver Medal" from the United States
Olympic Committee. Still committed to ultimately bringing
the Olympic Games to the San Francisco Bay Area, we continue
to showcase our venues and audiences to as many athletes and
sports governing bodies as possible. We invite you to find
out more about our organization and to support our mission.
We've kept the 2012 bid documents and programs from the bid,
as many students request the materials as background research.
Click on the 2012 material at the top of the site.
Read our quarterly newsletter, volunteer to work at an event,
help to support the creation of new sporting facilities in
the Bay Area, attend regional sporting events and support
the home team!
